Today was a much better day with Asher. (insert big smile here)
He was Mr. Creativity today. He spent from noon until 5PM making things, building things, and telling stories. It was very enjoyable.
After dinner Nelson, Asher, and I went to Friendly's for ice cream. I got the small Happy Ending sundae and just about couldn't finish it. Nelson's was a little larger. And Asher's was huge! And he ate it all. I was a volcano sundae and he loved picking out the toppings and then creating the "landscape."
When we got done, we brought Nelson home and he immediately went to bed. He will have 70hrs in after work tomorrow. He's just beat. I, on the other hand am playing the role of the Everready Bunny, so I took Asher to the playground directly behind his house where we played kickball and "soccer" for an hour. I didn't "run" the whole time, but I was required to chase, kick, block, and run the bases. I should have worn better shoes.
When the magic hour of 8PM arrived I convinced a very redfaced and sweaty Asher we needed to go in and get water. I also thought that Beth would be home at any moment. I was wrong about Beth.
Asher decided we needed to watch "Nightmare Before Christmas" in his recently cleaned up room. I tried to read and he also played with cars through the movie. Beth got home at 9:45.
I came home, puttered around in the kitchen, typed this, and now I'm headed to bed since I need to be up for work at 4:30 in the morning. By then Nelson will already be at work.
Tomorrow I may go see a movie with friend Heidi. We both need a chick flick and "The Help" looks pretty good.
Nothing is wasted. My life is often messy: sometimes because of choices I've made and sometimes becuase life is just messy at times. No matter how the mess comes, one thing remains true: out of the mess comes my message.
