Getting the weekend started

Yesterday was another non-working day.

I ended up taking Asher to the doctor in the afternoon. The rash he had from a week ago began to look just like ringworm. We did some research on the internet but weren’t completely sure what we were dealing with. It turns out that it is just a skin rash that is the result of his body reacting to an infection. It is viral in nature and there is no medicine/ointment/lotion for it. The pediatrician warned me that it might get worse before it gets better and showed me pictures of what “worse” might look like. This morning the spots are almost completely gone.

This morning I went to the Friends of the Library book sale. I found some movies for Asher and a few books for Beth, a book on Hawaii for Nelson and one book for me. I just couldn’t find anything for me, at least nothing I could justify getting when I’m doing such major cleaning out of old stuff.

With all of our concern about Asher on Friday, I failed to call in and see why no one had called me from the new job. As it stands right now I’m not working on Monday either. I almost wish I hadn’t cancelled the Akron interview or the phone interview.

There’s a Christian Writers’ Conference on August 2 in Dayton. I’m thinking about going. It’s a little pricy, but could be considered an investment in my future. Maybe it would help me make my mind up about jumping into this writing thing. Out of the blue this week I got some unexpected positive feedback from someone I respect about my writing. Nelson said we’ll fit it into the budget somehow. I just don’t want to waste money or time.

This week may hold some fun connections. Coffee with a classmate and dinner with an OD friend. It’s really nice to have something to look forward to.
