Sweet Summer Days

I am enjoying my little vacation, and trying not to worry about not bringing in any income.

This afternoon Nelson suggested I go to one of the local coffee shoppes, sip on coffee, and play on the computer. It was a very nice suggestion and enjoyable time. I wrote a letter to a friend, played several games of Scrabble on Facebook, wrote a reflection piece (at my new blog: www.potofmanna.blogspot.com), and sipped on a decadent cup of latte called a Yellow Jacket. M-m-m, tasty!

When I got home I found Asher asleep on the floor in front of Nelson's recliner. There was a ball under the chair and even though Nelson put the foot rest up, Asher would crawl under and get it. He pitched a fit and fell asleep right there on the floor. He woke a bit when I got home and I rocked him back to sleep. He starting to wake up now.

Last night Beth, Asher, and I walked to the mid-week Farmers' Market (which is just a few blocks from our house) and I bought some fresh green beans and new potatoes from some friendly Amish folks. They're in the crock pot now (the beans and potatoes, not the Amish) with pepper, garlic, and bacon bits. That should be yummy for supper!

I got a call today from the company I was supposed to have a phone interview with on Friday. There were two positions when I applied, one second and one third. I applied for the second shift. They called to say that position was filled and ask if I'd be interested in the third shift. There was a day when I might have considered it, and maybe I shouldn't be so picky what with not much to chose from...but I don't want to and don't think I can do it. So I turned it down.

Well, Little Man is awake and wanting to play with blocks and cars. Later Taters.

Oh, I would have turned it down, too. Third shift would be so hard to do now. I used to be able to handle it. Now? Not so much. It's good to know your limits.

I don't blame you one bit. Third shifts at our age are a killer.
